Girl in Classroom
. breath

for 9-14 year olds

. breathe is a 4-lesson programme developed by Mindfulness In Schools Project (MiSP), the most established international provider of mindfulness training for schools, and the same group behind paws b.

It is designed specifically for students going through the tricky years of change between primary and secondary school. It includes a combination of simple mindfulness practices and theory, neuroscience and social and emotional learning. It can work as a stand alone programme, or a follow up for classes who have previously completed paws b.

Each session is designed to last aprox. 45min, to be delivered once a week for 4 weeks during the period leading up to the end of the final term in primary school or the first term at intermediate or secondary school.

.breathe aims to support young people at a key time of change,  including the transition between primary and intermediate school, as well as physical changes  (puberty) and social changes (peer groups becoming more important and more engagement with social media).

In particular, .breath explores issues around:

  • Working with the capacity of attention; exploring how we can work with a wandering mind.

  • Why humans worry, and how to support ourselves when we do so.

  • Sleep: why it is important and what to do if we struggle to sleep well.

  • Being with others : the opportunities and challenges of working skilfully with friendships and other relationships, both in person and online
